The draft rapid guideline is open for consultation until 3 October
The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) has published a new draft rapid guideline, Prevention and management of venous thromboembolism in COVID-19.
The new guidance, which is open for consultation until 3 October, was developed using SIGN’s new rapid guideline methodology. The guideline includes recommendations on:
- prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in individuals with COVID-19 in community and hospital settings
- management of VTE in people with COVID-19 in hospital
- extended thromboprophylaxis in patients discharged from hospital after recovery from acute COVID-19.
The guideline also includes details on the provision of information, the evidence base, and the development of the guideline.
All comments gathered during the consultation will be collated into a report and addressed by the guideline development group. The report, with the group’s responses, will be published alongside the final version of the guideline, scheduled for November 2021.
