Public Health England has updated Influenza: the green book, chapter 19.
Influenza is a highly infectious respiratory infection. It can cause dangerous illness, particularly in certain high-risk populations such as the very young and the elderly. Timely immunisation against seasonal influenza is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of these patient groups developing serious influenza.
Chapter 19 of Immunisation against infectious disease, or ’the green book’, covers immunisation against influenza. The October 2017 update includes updated information on the benefits of quadrivalent vaccines.
The areas covered by Chapter 19 include:
- information on the history and epidemiology of influenza
- target groups for immunisation
- dosage and scheduling
- immunisation in other at-risk patient groups.
