The JBS3 guideline recommends the use of a calculator to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The calculator is designed to identify individuals that are at a high lifetime risk of getting CVD, despite having a low short-term risk. It is an opportunity for these group of patients to modify their development of CVD by adopting the necessary lifestyle interventions, and where required pharmacological therapy.

This Guidelines summary also covers the management of individuals who are at a high risk of getting CVD, and those with established CVD.
